Mother's Day celebration
Mother's Day is a mark of respect towards motherhood and the day to honor and celebrate the presence of mothers in our lives, normally in March end or early April. It is believed to have originated from the Christian practice of visiting individual mother church annually, ultimately leading to a family reunion on this day. Most chronicles indicate that young tyros and young women in servitude were emancipated by their masters on said weekend, allowing them a family visit.
While many countries on the planet earth, celebrate their own Mother's Day at different times all through the year, some countries such as Australia , Belgium , Denmark , Finland , Italy and Turkey , also celebrate their Mother's Day on the second Sunday of May.
History
The earliest Mother's Day celebrations can be mark out to the spring celebrations of ancient Greece in honor of Rhea, the Mother of the Gods. Thereafter, at some stage in the 1600's, England commemorated a day called ‘Mothering Sunday’, to honor the mothers of England, on the fourth Sunday of Lent i.e. the 40 day period showing way to Easter day
.During this phase, the poor class of England worked as servants for the well-heeled. Since most working places were sited far from their own dwellings, it was a practice to live at the houses of their employers. When the trend of Mothering Sunday was encouraged, the servants were permitted a day off so that they could go back home and spend the day with their mothers. A special cake, entitled the mothering cake, was often brought along to render a festive touch.
As Christianity spread its wings in whole of Europe the celebrations transformed to honor the ‘ Mother Church ’—the divine supremacy that bestowed people with life and shielded them from destruction. In the fullness of time, both the church and the trend of Mothering Sunday blended together and People began to honor their mothers as well as the church mother.
